Cerberus

Cerberus (also known as Cerberus I) is a Class M planet located in the Cerberus System in the Beta Quadrant. It orbits the G-class star Eta Lupis. The Federation began colonizing the planet in the 2230s with the permission of the Cerebusians. It quickly became a major source of agricultural goods.

During the 2250s, the planet began suffering from a prolonged drought followed by a decrease in vital microbes in the soil. By 2259, the failures in crop production were so that the colonists were in danger of starving. While the Federation considered evacuating the population to Cerberus II, noted philanthropist Carter Winston stepped in and financed the purchasing of food and supplies needed to save the settlement.
