Chelarian

The Chelarians, who resemble giant, upright, saber-toothed turtles, are actually a relatively pacific species, members of the Federation since 2275. They are indigenous to Rigel III, and find most other worlds inclement and uncomfortable. Some older data banks call them “Rigellians,” but to avoid confusion with the Vulcanoid “Rigelians” of Rigel V, that name has gone out of fashion.

Despite their similarity to some Terran reptiles, Chelarians are quite fast in a sprint and are powerfully built. They are a patient, wise, and methodical people that don't care for the fast-pace life of many other worlds. However, they make great mediators, lawyers, and diplomats.
