Deneb IV

Deneb IV (known as Kidta to the natives) is the home of a small Federation colony, population 17,000, in the Deneb System. Most of the planet's surface is a beautiful, unspoiled wilderness, making this world a favorite among personnel on leave. Vast oceans and smaller swampy seas dominate the planetscape. The most well-known indigenous lifeform is the carnivorous Denebian slime devil. This amphibious, quick-moving predator usually feeds upon Deneb IV's bountiful stock of native fish and other sea life by spearing its prey with large, forklike foreclaws. Slime devils range in size from a few inches to several feet long, and they use a form of natural radar to locate their prey. Fortunately, the slime devil does not exist in great numbers, so attacks upon humans, while not unknown, are quite rare.
