Potectorate
A protectorate is a political entity (a sovereign state) that formally agrees by treaty to enter into an equal relationship with another, stronger state, called the protector, which engages to protect it (diplomatically or, if needed, militarily) against third parties, in exchange for which the protectorate usually accepts specified obligations, which may vary greatly, depending on the real nature of their relationship.
Each Protected species are given complete protection diplomatically or, if needed, militarily from the rest of the galaxy, they are free to rule as they wish but the protectorate will not interfere if they start a war with out consulting the Triad and Council or in any civil war. The Jim’ra are a per-warp species that have developed Sub-Space sensors that made them a treat to the Klingon Empire.
- It should be noted that while Protectorate refers, in modern terms, to the one (country, state) that is under the protection of a larger country or government this is not the case with the Protectorate, they are the ‘Protector’ in this description.
Triad
The Protectorate is lead by a Triad, three senior government officials, Lord Protector, Protector Elect and the Chief of Staff. All three must convene along with the Council to make major choices.
There are three seats of power that the Triad work from, the Lord Protector leads from the Planet Reach the second planet in the system. The Protector Elect leads from Planet Eve the third in the system and the Chief of Staff leads from the Grand Carrier Sublime Truth.

Council
The Council is the governing body of the Protectorate; it consists of the Triad, the Planetary Governors, the military Joint Chief’s and 5 elected officials. The council has complete control of the Protectorate and is lead by the Triad. The council can not over rule the Triad and the triad have to convince the council in major choices such as War or moving a new system into the Protectorate or offering protection to a species.

The Three Families
The three most significant Families of the Protectorate are the Carter’, the Kelly’ and the Vega’. These families were the pioneers of the Dax’Ion system 2000 years ago and have remained senior members of the Protectorate; you will find the that many members of the Protectorate look up to these families treating them almost like royalty. Unlike true royalty thou the ‘Three’ families are down to Earth peoples who have great honour and respect and wish to serve the Protectorate just like everyone else does.
Each of the three families have a family crest in the form of a pendent that is warn around the neck and is used to ‘Time lock’ the wearer to their timeline as they cross the Portal. All members of the Protectorate wear a pendent from birth.
