Skorr

The Skorr are an avian race similar in appearance to Aurelians. Their feathers range from white to golden. They are generally slightly taller than Humans with slim muscular frames with a wingspan of approximately two meters. They mature faster than humans becoming adults at age 10 and have shorter lifespans of approximately 70 years. Their history is one of great conflict until three centuries ago when the prophet Alar changed their philosophy to peace. There is much debate on the history of Alar before he brought the change to his planet. Some claim he was a great General while others say he was a simple priest. What is known is that the Skorr were planning galactic warfare on a previously unheard of scale with millions of warriors bred for conquest. Alar started small gathering bands of Skorr to listen to his message of peace. His movement began to grow larger and the monarchy took notice. The Crown Prince was sent to arrest them but instead was swayed by the words of the prophet. The prince stationed his troops so that the invading armies could not leave. Civil war threatened until the King agreed to an audience with Alar and the invasion cancelled. Upon his death, the brain pattern of Alar was embedded onto a sculture of an infinity symbol known as the "Soul of Skorr." (The Animated Series: "The Jihad")

In 2271 the soul was stolen but returned with the assistance of James T. Kirk and Spock of the starship Enterprise. Just after it was returned Crown Prince Tchar gave up his crown in protest. He claimed that the philosophy of peace was robbing the Skorr of their soul. Another crisis happened in 2359 when King Svey IV dissolved the monarchy in order to facilitate entry of Skorr into the Federation. One of the crown princes rebelled and a civil war was begun behind the idea of a return to the traditional ways. The rebels assasinated King Svey in hopes that his ideas would die with him. The plan backfired as popular support for them eroded away. Skorr was admitted to the Federation in 2361.
