The Starfleet Medical Corps is responsible for the physical and psychological health of all Starfleet personnel. Additionally, they are called upon for medical research and humanitarian missions. The department is split into two fields; Medical and Counselling, which specialise in treating and preventing any damage or ailments that affect the body or mind respectively.

All Starfleet Medical personnel wear teal, although it has been known for some Chief Counselors to be given permission to wear appropriate clothes of their choosing.
