Previously On Too loud part 4
Cameron had heard Anthony practicing again and had gone to their corridor neighbours to let them know she planned on joining him in to get in some practice in the more casual setting of his quarters.

And now the continuing story of Too loud

Anthony grabbed the case he kept the keyboard and pedals in and left for his neighbour Cameron’s quarters. It was a little early and he did the general notification up and down their corridor letting their neighbours know that they were going to have a practice this evening. As the time came around for his arrival he rang her door chime.

“It’s unlocked.” Cameron called from inside her quarters.

As she said it the door opened and Anthony entered. “Good evening and how have you been since last time?” He asked as he came in.

“Last time we weren’t stuck in this null space, so things aren’t going as well as back then.” Cameron replied.

“True. It can’t be good for people's mental health to be surrounded by complete darkness, at least we have found a way to move through it.” Anthony said, with only half a smile.

“A very slow way from what I’ve heard,” Cameron added.

“Yes, it’s similar to going back to when blind people used a cane, or when we used submarines to make battle but at least we are moving forward, well until we have to make a turn then we have to start all over again.” Anthony made a generalised explanation of how they were moving.

Cameron nodded slightly “Makes sense, slow and steady.” She moved over to where her violin sat. “I hope it's not too slow though, can’t imagine what it will be like if we’re in here for too long.”

“Yeah though lightspeed would certainly be a bad thing when you can’t see anything that might be solid.” Anthony followed Cameron over to where she kept her violin and then started setting up the keyboard.

“That is true.” She chuckled slightly. “I just hope the crew can take it.”

“Well, that’s your departments’ role to keep the crew from flying off their handles. That is the part I don’t envy. Much easier to try and understand a new language than it is to stop someone who’s bleeding.” Anthony pulled a face, he remembered being about four years old and being sick when he saw someone bleeding and immediately knew Medicine wasn’t for him.

“There is a lot more to medicine than just stopping people bleeding.” Cameron remarked, she picked up her violin and bow. “So what should we start with today?”

“Well, I was thinking something we should start discussing is how we want to put this show on. I mean what better time to start truly talking out our playlist as we are getting quite good at the songs. Though more practice is never a bad thing.” Anthony said with a bit more of a smile now than the last time.

“You think we’re ready to put on a little show?” Cameron asked. “Assuming the boss will even let us.”

“That is the main question, so far even though we would like to put on a show whether or not the Captain approves of it will be up to her of course.” Anthony said as he started unpacking his case. “Though we will never know if we never ask, and it is more likely to be answered positively if we have a well thought out plan.”

“I think she would approve it, I’m no counselor but I think the crew are going to need some cheering up especially if we’re in here long.”

“True, while I can’t say that I am a fully trained counselor either, there are parts of xenolinguistics and nursing that have small parts of a counsellor's job role. I agree I can’t see Captain Tigran disagreeing with anything that will help to lift Morale at the moment. I think the main part of meeting with the captain will simply be putting our idea to her and listening to hers.” Anthony said with a smile.

“I think you’d be the best to take the idea to her, you have much more interaction with her than I ever will.” Cameron said, which was certainly true. “We should probably ask Jessica too, we need somewhere to play and the lounge has a little stage on it.”

“Okay I’ll talk, if you’ll at least be present, she’s literally not that scary. Though you’re right I do have more interaction with her than you do.” Anthony nervously looked at Cameron. “I’ll happily handle taking the idea to the Captain if you handle Jessica. Now that woman really scares me.”

“You seemed fine with her at that little party we had back in February, didn’t you and her arrange most of it together?”

“Okay, ya caught me. I get along with most people, I was just hoping to get you to do some of the talking. I mean I am willing to talk to everyone. I have spent many years listening to accents in my training.” Anthony said.

Cameron laughed slightly. “Alright, I’ll talk to Jessica. I can’t see her refusing either, except for if the Captain refuses.”

“I can’t really see that happening either. I think Captain Tigran will jump at anything that will help raise the morale of the crew. We have been stuck travelling rather slowly and I know it is getting people not being able to see stars. There have already been words like stir crazy thrown around and I know having something of a mental distraction like music has actually helped me sleep well at night. That and having HG back on board is actually helping too.” Anthony said, glad that Cameron was also musically gifted so they could develop a shared interest.

“How are things with you and HG?” Cameron asked, all the ship knew there had been something going off between them before she left and most guessed it had started up again now she was back.

“Slowly does it, She has a lot more responsibility now, Okay before she was still responsible for the experiments she ran, and she has the expectations and responsibilities of a Civilian on the ship. This time she holds rank. She sees that as different. To be honest I don’t see it but I expect she and I think very different as with her being more of a theoretical Engineer and me more the Xenopologist. All my theories looking into how do beings behave, her specialities lie in how can I make this thing go faster. Though she also has a strong knowledge of how languages migrate which really impressed me last time she was here.

“No drama with you now dating someone you’re in charge of?” Cameron asked.

“It’s a delicate issue but I think less strange because we’re both Lieutenant’s. Though I suppose it would be less strange than if I was still chief of junior rank with her serving as a Lieutenant, certainly not unprecedented but still odd.” Anthony said with a chuckle, “We discussed it shortly after coming back online and she seems more worried about the Brig now she has Bridge rights. Shall we crack on with the practice then?”

Cameron smiled, not a single note had been strangled from their instruments in all the time they’d been talking. “Where shall we start?”

“It’s been a while since we played Pachelbel canon in d Major, how about we start there?” Anthony replied.

“Sure.” Cameron replied and put her violin up to her chin.
