Mission: The Silent Scream
Location: Corridors

Another successful shift, and another chance to explore a new part of the ship. Zack was going to check out the holodeck. He had another engineer in tow, and the two were tossing a baseball back and forth as they made their way towards the holodeck.

John overthrew and Zack tried to back track quickly enough to catch it. He managed, but it put his precariously off balance and in danger of tipping over.
He might have done so if his momentum wasn't stopped by another body.

Ty had been moderately distracted by the message he received on his PaDD from summer, his cheeks became a sensual shade of rose and his brown eyes warmed like melted chocolate. He came into contact with the approaching ensign and the two practically bounced off one another albeit it looked as though the ensign was already a bit off balance. Ty dropped the PaDD from his grasp.

"Seventh inning stretch, Ensign?" Ty replied with a chuckle. He bent down to pick up his PaDD and tugged on his uniform, brushing it off. "Going to the holodeck?" asked the First Officer.

Zack smiled back, then straightened up a bit at seeing the pips. He didn't come to attention, but he did take a more formal stance. "Haven't started the first inning yet." He replied. "And yes sir, headed to the holodeck. Sorry about the collision. I'm Ensign Chandler, new engineer onboard." He introduced himself with a polite nod.

Ty wiped his hands on his trousers. "No harm done, ensign" replied Tyrus with a small smile. "I was a bit distracted anyways. I should have saw you coming" admitted the First Officer with a bit of chuckle. Summer he thought to himself. "Do you play baseball or are you just a spectator?"

"Oh, well I'm not sure you can really call it baseball. More like catch with a baseball and an excuse to eat hotdogs and popcorn. I do enjoy getting to just watch a game though. Hard to find a real baseball fan nowadays though."

"I Imagine you don't find too many fans of it these days," noted Ty. "I'm more of a peanuts and crackerjacks kind of guy myself" stated the Lieutenant Commander. "Do you like watching historical games from Earth?"

"Sometimes. I'd rather actually play than watch. Have you actually played the game?" Zack was actually surprised the XO even knew what baseball was.

Ty shook his head. "I have not. At least not fully," he corrected himself. "I've swung a bat before and I've tossed a ball around before. Thought am actual game of baseball? No, I haven't. My family on Earth taught me a bit about it when I was younger."

Zack thought about it only a moment, then smiled. "Would you like to come play? We'll have to fill out the field with holograms, but we've got a pitcher, a catcher, and a batter with three."

"Let's play ball!" exclaimed Lieutenant Commander Acevedo. He looked at the younger officer. "I could use some recreational time. This sounds like it will be enjoyable and a bit educational."

"Great." The trio headed towards the holodeck. Petty Officer Johnson looked ready to piss his pants, but Zack just grinned and rolled his eyes at his new acquaintance. When they reached the holodeck he turned back to the XO. "Do you have a preferred stadium?"

"Not a damn one," Ty replied shaking his head. "My experience with baseball was more through European baseball leagues. The Abrantes Municipal Stadium in Portugal is what I am most familiar with, but I am good with something from the North American continent."

"Oh, don't think I've every seen that one." Zack was quick to pull up the suggested location. He took it in and then turned his attention back to the XO. "I call dibs on catcher, would you rather bat or pitch." He tossed the ball up just a bit and then caught it, ready to toss it to either the XO or Johson.

Ty smirked a bit. "I didn't think you were the catcher type. Looked more like a pitcher to me, but that's what I get for assumptions," Ty stated. "In that case, I will that the mound. I have been told that I have a pretty mean splitter."

Zack snorted in amusement, getting the innuendo. "Yes, well I'm wearing the wrong leg for running, and I would end up hitting somebody in the head. Somebody has to catch and I'm nothing if not accommodating." Zack teased right back.

They had the computer create the rest of the teams for them. "Alright Commander, let's see what you've got." Zack couldn't get into a proper crouch, but he could get to his knees by manually pulling on his prosthetic at the knee, a gesture he did subtly. He placed his glove near the dirt and called out a fast ball, figuring Johnson would be expecting the splitter.

Ty scoffed. "Protect your manhood, ensign," Ty cautioned. "I have some cobwebs to get out of this rusty arm" noted the First Officer as he began his stance. A good wind up from Ty and he released the ball with as much force and control as he could manage.

Zack was very glad for the warning as the ball headed directly towards said area. Johnson took a swing and missed. Zack tossed the ball back to Acevedo.

The trio managed three innings before Johnson begged off for a date. "Bros before hos dude!" Zack called after him playfully. Then he realized he'd been ditched for a girl, which he really couldn't blame the man for, but he'd been ditched stuck on his knees. "I suppose it is getting to be dinner time." He called out to the XO.

"Or breakfast or lunch," replied Ty with a shrug. "I'm on watch during the Beta shift. If ends at 2400 hours. I do dinner after that. So, you can imagine I'm thrown off a bit from other members of the crew," he explained. "If anyone asks me to the mess hall for a meal, I try to go with something nondescript. Nothing like having pancakes while someone else is chowing on a steak."

"Sounds like a fine pairing to me." Zack grinned. "Thanks for the baseball. It was fun."

"Anytime," Ty replied. He genuinely had a good time and socializing with the crew was good for morale, especially junior officers and lower deckers. He wouldn't mind making a habit of it.
