Mission:
The Silent Scream
Location: Counsellor Wyse's Quarters
Timeline: 23rd April 2395- 0115 hrs
Tyrus had gotten back to his quarters shortly after 2400 hours, the end of Beta shift and the beginning of Gamma shift. Because of this Wolff's situation, Ty had moved Lieutenant Edwards over onto the Beta shift with him. None of this was really 'functional' in Ty's mind. A three-shift rotation worked on some ships, but he really felt four-shift rotations would boost morale and give people the necessary rest periods.
They were on a starship. So, the 'concept' of night and day did not really come into play although the ship still used Earth hours to keep everyone uniform and understanding. That meant 24 hours in a day. It was now 'past midnight' and he had a dinner engagement with Summer.
Ty had gotten out of his uniform and tossed on some normal clothes before heading out and making his way to Summer's door. He leaned in, pressed the chime, and waited for the woman to respond. I hope she remembered she offered me dinner tonight he thought. He would be embarrassed if she answered not expecting him.
Summer hadn’t forgotten about dinner at all, she smiled as she answered the door in a dress that enhanced every attribute she had. “Hey come on in.” She motioned Ty inside standing back to let him in. “I bet you thought I’d forgotten about Dinner.”
Ty stepped In and admired the beauty of the woman and her quarters. "Forget? About me? Impossible," quipped Ty. He chuckled and shook his head. "The way you've been looking at me since I first set foot aboard, you look at me the way a Ferengi looks at a lucrative business opportunity."
Summer grinned. “Ohh you are in no way a business opportunity, you are so much more than that” She smiled a wry smile. “Dinner shouldn’t be long, please make yourself at home. There’s a chilled beer waiting for you, not the replicated stuff either.”
"Ah I see," replied Ty. "You are going to get my mildly intoxicated before you seduce me. That way I'm impaired," he teased. "Whatever you are making smells delicious, Summer. After today, I could use something. I skipped out on lunch."
“In that case you’ll have plenty to eat, I’m cooking a pot roast that I learned from my grandmother. It was always my favourite when I was a kid. All fresh ingredients that I bought last time we stocked up on supplies. Make yourself at home and I’ll be with you shortly.” With that she headed off to plate up.
He studied the meal with his olfactory senses. it smelled delicious, and he had definitely had pot roast once or twice in his lifetime. This was different though and it was definitely appealing. "You've really done some cooking tonight, Summer. This smells incredible." He smiled and looked around the woman's quarters. They were a bit more cozy and lived in than his own.
Bringing the plates out Summer placed them down on the table. “Here you go. For dessert you’ve got... me!” She grinned a wry grin. “Either that or cake, you can take your pick.”
"That's quite an offer," Ty replied. The innuendo was lacking nuances, and instead was practically hitting him over the head. you as dessert he thought about what she was saying. "An enticing dessert menu, Counsellor, but what man would I be to indulge myself so quickly? A little restraint can go a long way. It might be a cake night, but I suspect you'll be presenting your other dessert option another time. Perhaps when we've had more time to explore our culinary experiences."
Summer grinned. “I didn’t say you were getting me on a platter, I was simply saying that the option was available. I may be a tease but you’d have to work on getting your teeth into me.”
"Wonderful," Ty replied. "As an Ardanan, I am used to working hard to reach my goals and desires. I like a good cat and mouse game...the hunt .... the chase, that's where the real fun is."
“Really?” Summer smiled as she started to truly understand. “In that case let the chase begin.” She politely ate some of her food.
"The game is afoot," replied Ty. "I will chase you, and I expect you will give me a good workout...keep me on my toes. All the things I love in romantic pursuits."
Summer grinned. “Ohh you want a chase, I’ll give you one!”
Ty smiled. "That's what I was hoping that you would say," he replied. "Now, dinner shall we? All this talk of a chase is building up my appetite." He was certainly looking forward to what Summer had on her mind...whatever she had on her mind.
Summer nodded as she politely tucked into the food on her plate, she wasn’t sure what Tyrus was hoping for but she wasn’t used to taking a long drawn out time to get what she wanted. Her eyes rarely left his as they ate, she simply watched him curiously.
Feeling slightly like stalked prey, Ty paused his eating and looked at the woman with a curiosity of his own. "Watching me eat?" he inquired. "You really do struggle taking your eyes off me," teased the First Officer. "I hope I'm not showing poor etiquette. I wasn't really from a a family with much grace nor table manners."
"Do you really think that matters?" Sumner grinned. "You can eat with your fingers if you like, it wouldn't bother me at all."
He smiled at her. "When you are a command officer, yeah, it matters. I am the First Officer now. I can't go around making too many mistakes and offending the cultural practices of dignitaries," Ty replied. "Fortunately for me, between you and our science department, I feel like I'm in good hands."
Summer smiled. “I’m glad you think so, I’ll do my best to keep you from making any silly mistakes. As long as you don’t let me get too involved with anything I shouldn’t, I do have a habit of getting myself emotionally involved in situations.”
Ty teasingly looked shocked. "Really? You don't say. Who possibly could imagine a Betazoid becoming emotionally involved in situations. That would be like a Klingon being obsessed with honor and glory." The First Officer looked at Summer and smirked.
"Don't worry," he added. "I will make sure that I keep you from getting too emotionally involved in frivolous matters, and focused on the important things."
Summer nodded. “I’m sure you will Tyrus. I’m sure you will.”
The Wolff's First Officer continued to enjoy the meal and the company that went with it. These two individuals had chemistry, and Ty could feel it. He knew it. She certainly could sense it, at least Ty suspected as much. It would just be a matter of time...eventually, the spark was going to ignite.
