Summer had decided to head down to Risa alone, she wasn’t sure whether Tyrus had plans to join her or not. Having done a little research she headed for a quieter beach where she’d managed to get a lounger and brolly. Now she lay there in her bikini wishing she had some company.
Magnus Volsung had been swimming. It was an activity he enjoyed, although the warm calm waters of Risa were different than what he had grown up with. He spotted Summer as he got out of the sea, smiling as he walked over to her. "Summer," he said when he got close enough for her to see him, his hair and body wet from the water, dripping onto the warm sand.
“Magnus!” Summer smiled warmly as she sat up. “I didn’t see you out there, how’s the water?”
"Warm," he said and laughed, moving to sit down on the sand, close to her but not so close he dripped on her. His tattoos were exposed under the sun, whereas usually they would be hidden under his uniform. But he looked relaxed and felt it too. "Unusually so, I feel more like I have had a bath than a swim."
“In that case I might just try it later on” She offered a warm smile. “Are you here alone?”
"Yes," Magnus said with a firm nod, taking a breath. "Although I am meeting up with Eden later. He's in my department."
Summer nodded. “Would you like some company for a little while? It seems either Tyrus is busy, or he isn’t coming” She couldn’t help but look disappointed.
His brown eyes softened as he watched her, giving a nod. "I'd love some company," he said, meaning it as he eased back on his elbows, stretching his legs out. If the sand now sticking to his wet skin bothered him, he didn't show it. "If he has sense, he'll come. Man needs a break and good company, you can provide both."
Summer smiled warmly. “Thank you Magnus, you’re a good friend. I’ve got a spare towel here somewhere if you’d like one to lie on?” She looked around for her spare. “I always come well prepared.”
"I'll only get sand on it," he admitted, shaking his head. "I'll rinse off in the water at some point." He studied her, seeing the sadness still there. "How...are things with you and Tyrus?"
“Well...we’re okay, but Tyrus is kept busy with his duties and there always seems to be something in the way of time together.” Summer shrugged her shoulders. “To be honest I’m not sure just how serious we truly are.”
"Sounds to me like you two need to have a talk about that," he said, searching her eyes before he gave a small smile. "Not knowing is worse than knowing, for all things."
Summer nodded. “That’s very true. You know you could make a good Counsellor.” She grinned.
Magnus watched her before he shook his head. "No," he said, his voice gentle. "But I like to think I can be a good friend."
Summer smiled warmly. “As far as I’m concerned you already are Magnus. I think after what we shared in the holodeck, we know each other pretty well.”
"We did," he agreed, giving her a nod of agreement. "How...has your mind been, since then?" his voice was gentle with concern, a genuine question.
“To be honest, it took a while for me to re-settle after that. I wasn’t expecting to see what we saw.” A cold chill ran down Summer’s spine. “It gave me the creeps well and truly!”
He laughed softly and tapped his head, slowly. "It is a vast universe which we hold within our minds. Good or bad, it is...a learning experience. I hope things are better for you now...they are for me."
Summer nodded. "I'm definitely better now, it gave me a few disturbed dreams to start with but they've subsided now I'm glad to say."
Magnus nodded as he tilted his head, watching her. "Sometimes, getting over those dreams...it helps you working through the fears."
“Very true” Summer offered a smile. “Plus having a friend to talk to helps as well.”
"And you have that whenever you need," Magnus assured her, offering her a smile in return.
