Leaving the pack

Timeline: Last day of shoreleave

Freshly uniformed and looking decidedly happier than she had been for a while Taliserra stepped through the opening turbolift doors and onto the bridge of her ship.

"Captain on the bridge." Ensign Turell called out from the tactical station. Several of the bridge crew turned to see Taliserra step onto the bridge.

"Welcome back Captain." Binea added, she'd not long returned from her own bout of shoreleave where she'd had a lot of fun indeed.

Taliserra slowly crossed the bridge taking the time to exchanged a few words with the crew and headed into the ready room.

Ty had been sitting at the Captain's desk in her Ready Room when Taliserra walked in. "Well hello there, Ty said looking up from a PaDD. He remained seated. "I'd stand to be relieved of command, but let's push formality aside. Give me few moments..."

He soon stood and braced himself against the desk. Though the pregnancy could not be seen as if it were a standard human pregnancy and if Ty were a biological female, neither of which was the case, he still looked exhausted.

Ty was not in uniform, not entirely. A sleeveless gray tank top showed a circular medical device peaking out as he loomed over the desk. His chest looking recently waxed or shaven. "Cardiac monitor," said Ty knowing Taliserra had noticed the device.

He lifted his tank top a bit to reveal his abdominal region. Off to the side it was a bluish purple discoloration region of his skin. It looked like a terrible bruise aside from the grapefruit sized bulge that was forming there. "There have been some developments while you were on Risa, Captain."

Taliserra's expression quickly changed from a smile to a look of utter confusion. "I.... can see that." She said after looking at the strange lump in her Xo's side, the confusion was definitely evident in her voice. "Hearing your explanation of this will be most interesting I think Ty."

Lowering his tank, Ty gestured towards the Captain's seat. "Have a seat. Make yourself at home because this is going to take some explaining" he said as he made his way towards the replicator.

"What can I get you?" he asked. "I would say break out a bottle of Saurian Brandy for this but I'm not exactly medically cleared to partake in my usual casual drinking of non-synthetic spirits and ales. Frankly, I'm advised to avoid the synthetic stuff too" he sighed.

"Just some sweet tea." Taliserra said as she headed for her chair. "Looking how gingerly you're moving I'm going to take a guess at that's not just a massive swelling from being attacked or an infection of some sort."

Ty ordered a sweet tea for Taliserra and a hot peppermint tea for himself. He was as she put it moving gingerly as he brought the teas over and sat down. "What possibly could have given that away" he teased.

"I'm eating for two now" he quipped and sighed, sipping the tea. He looked at the woman. "As a joined Trill and as a mother, you probably understand how exhausting this is. Bluntly put, Captain, I've been knocked up. There is a bun in my ovenless body...pregnant. Somehow."

"Somehow." Taliserra said. "Just what did you get up to down on Risa?"

"Spent most my time with Summer, but I can assure you, regardless of how creative we may have gotten, she is not responsible for this" he stated. "I also played cards, swam, socialized. Had some drinks. Nothing that should have caused this."

"You're sure it is a baby and not a parasite or something like that?" Taliserra asked still quite confused how Ty could be pregnant. "You didn't eat something you shouldn't have...... swapped bodily fluids with something you shouldn't have."

He chuckled and was glad. "Thank you. Finally, someone who understands me. That was my first reaction. I thought it was something I ate or an alien parasite. The Doctor assures me it is an actual life form, a developing embryo. We are still waiting for genetic testing to identify the parentage but I think it is safe to say that it is not Human or anything we're used to."

"It has to have come from somewhere Ty, there's nothing you remember that could have caused this?" Taliserra asked as she thought of anything that could even remotely explain how this had happened. "No mysterious alien caught your attention, no unusual game you were invited to play?"

"Risa," Ty replied. "It is visited by a bunch of alien species daily. I don't really have much to add. Maybe Doctor Ross will have answers. Until then, I have a request to make."

Taliserra nodded slightly, she had a feeling it would be a request for a leave of absence or reduced duties. "Sure."

"Going anywhere right now is only going to add distance between me and the cause of this" said Ty. "Doctor Hope is going to have results soon, but I need to drop anchor here. I know the Wolff has to go wherever our next mission takes us, but I need to stay on Risa and investigate this."

Sipping her tea Taliserra thought about his request, whoever or whatever did this could still be on Risa and being impregnated without knowledge or consent was something that definitely needed investigating. "As much as I don't want to be without my Xo, I agree."

"Edwards would do well stepping into the position" stated Ty. "Or if you go another route, anyone would be a good XO for you." Ty appreciated her support.

"I will think about that, though I'd want you back as soon as you get this all figured out." Taliserra opened a drawer in the desk and pulled out a Padd, she tapped at it for several seconds before offering it to Ty. "Your orders."

Ty accepted the PaDD. Of course she wanted him back as soon as he figured it all out. Though Ty was unsure when that would be and even then if he'd come back to this. He did not say that to her. "Thank you."

"Good luck." Taliserra said with a hopeful smile. "Please keep me in the loop as best you can whatever the outcome."

Ty nodded. "As soon as I know something, I will let you know. I hope to track down the other parent." Ty took a moment to look around the Captain's Ready Room before leaving. "Thank you, Captain. For this and everything. Be safe on your next mission assignment."

Lieutenant Commander Tyrus Acevedo turned and exited the Ready Room.

When the door closed Taliserra sat back in her chair, she remained still for several long seconds before Tapping her combadge. =/\= Tigran to bridge, get me Starfleet command on subspace.=/\=
