• An exotic fungus destroys the food supplies of planet Tarsus IV, prompting Gov. Kodos to execute 4000 colonists so that an equal number can live.
• After developing new ways to treat the criminally insane, Dr. Tristan Adams begins to revolutionize prisons and ways of dealing with prisoners. The Federation is quick to adapt many of these measures.
• Beta Ursae Minor II is discovered by the USS Hudson.
• Dramia joins the Federation.

• Constitution class USS Enterprise is launched under the command of Robert April. Among those in attendance is former UFP President Jonathan Archer, who dies the next day.
