Kressari

The Kressari are a repto-humaniod race from the Kalandra sector who inhabit a binary orange star system near the Kotakian homeworld. The species have a thick, inflexible skin that varies in color in shades of brown. They have extensive skeletal protrusions, manifesting as ridges along their shoulders and faces. They also have a scale-like plate armor that completely covers their back and the back of the skull. Finally, small spike-like protrusions project from the top of the hands and feet. Kressari have heightened senses of smell and sight, but their hearing is sub-par compared to pure humanoid species.
Since their skin is not as flexible as most other humanoids, Kressari express emotional states through changes in the colors of the irises of their eyes. These colours include black, white, blue, violet and vermillion, with each colour denoting a different emotional state. The colours can also combine, with one surrounding another in concentric rings, to express more complex emotions.
Their homeworld, also called Kressari, is a lush green Class M planet. Grasslands and forests cover some 70 percent of the land masses. The Kressari themselves are herbivores, and are expert farmers and herders. Over the centuries, they have grown or have experimented with tens of thousands of plant species. Many consider them the source for botanical DNA.
Although a politically neutral race with no standing military, elements within the Cardassian Central Command employed Kressari as intermediaries in 2370 to secretly supply the Bajoran insurgence group known as the Alliance for Global Unity (or "the Circle"), so that they would force the Federation from Bajor and allow the Cardassians to reclaim the planet.
