Kalandra sector
The Kalandra Sector lies in Federation space, roughly halfway between Sector 001 and the Cardassian Union in the Alpha Quadrant. It is a vital area of space, where many commerce lanes pass through and several important Starfleet facilities are located.
Some of the systems in the sector include:
- The Kalandra system
- The Klaestron system, home to Klaestron IV
- The Galador system, home to Galador II
- The Merak system, home to Merak II
- The Trill system, home to Trillius Prime and Lya Station Alpha
- The Draygo system
Other notable locations are:
- Caldik Prime, site of MacArthur Station
- Kotaki III, home of the Kotakian people
- Kressari, planet occupied by a species of the same name
- Hanolan Colony, a Trill settlement
- Starbase 375
In 2374, Dominion forces launched a successful invasion of Betazed from the Kalandra sector, which Starfleet Intelligence had believed too far from their supply lines to be a threat. (DS9: "In the Pale Moonlight") Most of the sector subsequently fell to the Dominion, allowing them to threaten Vulcan. (DS9: "The Reckoning")
Based on Cardassian military transmissions decoded by Elim Garak, Starfleet launched a counter-offensive and retook the Kalandra sector in early 2375. (DS9: "Afterimage") The sector later served as the rendezvous point after General Martok's raid on Trelka V, where the USS Defiant and seven other Federation starships stood in wait for the returning Klingon forces.
