Mission:
To catch a thief
Location: Deck 1- Captains ready room
ON:
Taliserra kept glancing up towards the door of her ready room as she continued to look through the data starfleet intelligence had sent her about the dead skull privateers, she knew the away team would be back shortly and was looking forward to the more detailed report about what had happened.
Anthony loved these meetings. Not, he understood they were necessary and he like his Commanding Officer he just sometimes wished there was someone else as chief, though even in this case he knew there was no way he could weasel out of this one having been Chief and lead science officer. He had many things of importance that Captain Tigran needed, chiefly that they had dealt with this band of pirates before. He arrived on the bridge and quickly made his way to the ready room and rang the chime.
Turning her screen away Taliserra looked up at the door. "Come."
As soon as Tigran spoke the voice activated door hissed open and Anthony entered “Good morning Captain.” He took a seat but sat at attention to wait on the First officer.
Radak entered the captain's ready room and stood at attention. "Captain," he said with a quick nod of his head.
"Ah Commander, Lieutenant, welcome back," Taliserra greeted the two men.
Radak nodded again. "Thank you, Captain. I am glad to be back." His face didn't convey any gladness, but he was Vulcan. "I am assuming that this meeting is about the station?"
"Yes," Taliserra said, nodding slightly. "I'd like your report on the situation, anything and everything you can tell me."
Radak looked over at Edwards and then back at Taliserra. "To be honest, Captain, Lieutenant Edwards did most of the talking. Not that I don't have information or didn't listen to what was being discussed, but he could better relate the conversation. I do, however, know that we found that there were actually four of those ships... I'm honestly surprised that they didn't destroy the station, but we may have interrupted that process with our arrival."
"Four ships..." Taliserra repeated. "That'l make them a little harder to track down unless they all stayed together."
Anthony nodded with a smile to Commander Radak’s comment, he had felt he had over stepped his command protocols in taking over, but many theoretical scientists often find it difficult to speak with anyone outside of other scientists until they know the other person really well. It often took security or engineers years to break that ring of knowledge. Another scientist understands that and can step around it. “The pirates knew exactly what they were looking for. The attack, from what I have been able to find from their sensors data so far, is shields and comms were attacked simultaneously to stop them getting a message out and then in and out with the only thing they wanted. The sensor array, as soon as they had the prototype it was back to the three other ships and away they went.”
"It looks like they're not just pirates," Taliserra told them. "I showed SF intel an image of the symbol we saw on that ship, they identified it as belonging to a group of mercenaries called the dead skull privateers."
"Oh God! That exactly what we need, a privately paid navy flying from place to place taking what the client is willing to pay top price to get. Usually, tech that they can then sell for a profit. At least the Ferengi do their own dirty work. The worst part of privateers is that they're also paid so well to keep their traps shut or die trying. That said, however, makes a lot of sense, seeing I as just came across that band that attacked the station first struck with a cloaked ship, then the others came in to assist the attack fogging the sensors," Anthony said, now annoyed.
Taliserra sighed slightly. "They've a cloaking device too. That could make things even more complicated."
"As you said, they're mercenaries. There is only the larger ship that currently appears to have a cloaking device. I am surprised by that, but it likely means that they haven't captured enough cloaking devices or haven't been able to program them to the smaller ships," Anthony said.
"Or their smaller ships can't generate enough power to run a cloaking device," Taliserra speculated. "Either way, SF intel has no issue with us investigating the group, so that's what we're going to do. Track down those ships and recover this prototype sensor array if we can."
"Is it possible that they've left some sort of trail in their wake?" Radak asked. "I know that some time has passed, but some ships leave trails. Did anyone fire on any of the ships?" He looked back and forth between Taliserra and Edwards. "They were headed for the Tukefra nebula... perhaps we could pick up a trail there?"
“Yes at this point the stations information about Tukefra nebula is the best information we have. As to can we get we pick up their trail Commander solar winds and the explosions have be now dissipated their track by know. However that nebula will slow them down, even if they don’t go through it. If they do try to go through it there will be no scrapes to pick from the bones.” Anthony said “Especially of the smaller ships. That particular nebula can be very rough on the sensors.”
"It's a start though, that nebula could be a good place to lay low for a while." Taliserra remarked then tapped her combadge =/\= Tigran to bridge =/\=
=/\= Yes Captain? =/\= Came Lieutenant Binea's voice.
=/\= Set a course for the Tukefra nebula, warp 5 =/\= Taliserra instructed.
=/\= Aye Captain, bridge out. =/\=
"Anthony, while we're on route there I want you and HG to go through the computer core Lt Barron's team recovered from the mercenary ship. Get everything you can from it, any little bit of information may be useful."
“Aye Captain, that sounds like a dismissal to me. However the word dismissed wasn’t specifically said so, with your permission Captain, I will leave and start working on the computer core.” Anthony said and waited.
Taliserra smiled, glad Edwards was up for getting straight to it. "Go ahead Lieutenant."
“Thank you Captain, good hunting, we’ll find them I am sure.” Anthony said as he retired from the room to head back to science to find what he could.
"I hope so." Taliserra replied as Anthony left. "We have more to discuss commander.
