Mission: The Silent Scream
Location: starbase 54- promenade
Timeline: 6th April 2395 1145hrs

Passing through the open storefront Debbie entered a clothes shop that had caught her attention on the Wolff's last visit to starbase 54 that she never got the chance to go to.

"Can I help you with anything Miss?" A young Orion woman asked as she approached Debbie.

"I'm just browsing for now thank you." Debbie replied.

The Orion smiled. "If you need anything just call out." She turned and left Debbie to her browsing.

Summer looked up from her browsing as she heard a familiar voice, smiling warmly as she saw Debbie. “I thought I heard a familiar voice.”

Debbie looked around at who was talking, eventually spotting Summer. "Oh hello Lt..... Wyse." Debbie had met Summer only twice before so it took a few moments to remember her, especially with her not in uniform.

Summer nodded. “That’s right, but please call me Summer.” She walked over towards Debbie. “It’s Larson ... Debbie Larson, correct?”

"That's me." Debbie said smiling. "Enjoying a little leave?"

“Enjoying a mad shopping spree!” Summer grinned. “I haven’t done this in ages so I’m enjoying myself. Are you looking for anything in particular?”

"A mad shopping spree," Debbie said with a small grin of her own. "It has been a while since I've had one of them too."

“How’s about we shop together?” Summer smiled as she walked over to Debbie, “There at some stores here I’d like to visit.”

"Sure, why not." Debbie smiled back. "I was debating a new dress or two, had my eye on this place from our last visit."

“Great!” Summer grinned. “We could stop off at a cafe, if we find one we like while we’re at it.”

"There are a few decent places further down," Debbie said, she picked up a blue and white summer dress off a rail for a closer look. "our very own lounge manager Jessica ran a bar on this base before she decided to work on a starship."

“That’s a nice dress you’re holding,” Sky smiled. “It would look good on you.” She picked up a similar looking top and skirt combination in a different colour.

"You think?" Debbie asked, she held the dress up to herself and turned to look in a mirror she'd noticed nearby. "It does look good."

“I definitely think!” Sky grinned and nodded. “I tell you what if you like it I’ll buy it for you, consider it a gift.”

"Really?" Debbie asked. "I'd best go try it on." She quickly scurried off to the changing room at the far side of the shop.

Sky grinned as she watched Debbie go.

Debbie emerged a few minutes later wearing only the dress, she gave Summer a small twirl, "What do you think?"

“I think it suits you,” Sky smiled warmly. “The colour is most definitely you!”

Debbie smiled back. "I think it could use some sandals or something like that too."

“Good thinking,” Summer nodded. “Let’s check out the shoe section and see what they’ve got.”

"Am I alright to keep this on for a bit?" Debbie asked the assistant.

"Sure, just don't walk out with it on before you've paid." She replied.

Debbie joined Summer over by the shops shoes section. "Starfleet issue boots can be so rough on the feet." She remarked as she looked through the selection.

“Isn’t that the truth!” Summer nodded in agreement. “I have a nice comfy pair of slippers I wear around my quarters after work.”

"I have some too but I prefer sandals for general 'knocking about' when I'm off duty." Debbie picked up a pair of sandals in a similar pattern to the dress she wore.

“They do go well with that dress,” Summer smiled. “They’d make good accessories.”

Searching around for a pair that were her size Debbie slipped them on. "mmmh they look perfect."

Summer too was looking at shoes, choosing a slightly different style and colour for herself. “Oh I do love shopping!”

"Engines are my first love, but shopping is a close second." Debbie moved over to the other side of the shoe display.

“So where to after this?” Summer grinned. “Maybe a cafe, or I could really get stuck into an ice cream sundae.”

"mmmmhhh, ice cream." Debbie replied, returning to Summer's side of the display with another pair of sandals in hand. "I could really go for one of them too."

“Great! Let’s pay and we can head out for that next.” Summer smiled warmly.

"I think I'll keep this new outfit on." Debbie said, she fetched her other clothes from near the changing room and then joined Summer at the checkout. "Excuse me, we're ready to pay." She called out to the assistant.

“Why not! It’s not like we get to be out of uniform much any other time.” Summer smiled. “It’s a nice break to get into civvies.”

"That it is," Debbie said smiling. The pair paid for their new clothes and headed back out onto the promenade, passing by countless more shops they eventually came across one of the many cafés on the station. "How about this one?"

Summer nodded. “Looks and smells good to me!” She headed inside making for a small table to sit down and peruse the menu.

Debbie followed Summer inside and sat opposite her, grabbing a menu for herself. "mmhh, I know it's not ice cream but that fudge cake looks so nice."

“Mmm I agree it does, but it looks pretty rich too. I think I like the look of the ice-cream sundae myself.”

"You have to treat yourself to something rich occasionally, even if you do have a good figure to maintain." Debbie smiled.

“Now isn’t that the truth!” Summer laughed. “I definitely deserve a treat! You know it’s been ages since I last had this much fun.”

Calling over one of the waiters Debbie placed the order for both of them. "How are you settling in on the ship? was an exciting first few weeks for you. The Wolff isn't always crazy antics like chasing down pirates and exploding asteroid fields."

“Actually I’ve found it to be on par with other ships I’ve served aboard” Summer smiled. “I don’t mind a bit of excitement every now and then, it livens things up that’s for sure!”

"Too much 'excitement' can be a bad thing though. Some of the crew have had more than their share of excitement." Debbie went to rub at her neck, it hadn't felt quite right after getting thrown around inside a jefferies tube during the asteroid field explosion.

Summer noticed the way Debbie went to rub her neck. “Stiff neck?”

"I was in a jefferies tube when the ship tumbled, got thrown around quite a bit." Debbie started to explain. "I got out but then collapsed a minute or so later. Medical checked me out and I was alright but I've had a bit of a sore neck since."

Summer nodded. “Maybe it would be a good idea to have that checked out again? It shouldn’t be playing you up that much.”

Debbie shook her head a little "It's probably just me, first time I've had a decent injury which is surprising considering what this ship has been through."

Summer nodded in agreement. “Of course. Just remember if it should get any worse, to give Sickbay a call. That’s what they’re there for after all.”

'Lucky escape there Debbie' she thought, thinking that Summer might call her in to her domain for some questioning. "I will don't worry." She said smiling slightly, a smile that grew wider when a waiter appeared at their table with their desserts.

“Mmmm I’ve been waiting for this!” Summer grinned. “Let’s tuck in!”
