Mission: The Silent Scream
Location: USS Wolff | Deck 02 | Executive Officer's Office

ON:

Getting settled into his office, Lieutenant Commander Tyrus Acevedo was taking in the experience. This was his first posting as Executive Officer aboard a starship before. The position came with some perks, and Ty was going to take it all in for the time being. He was along for the ride, riding the waves as far as it takes them.

Before he could even take a seat, the door chime rang. "Open for business," he said as he made his way around the room. He headed over to the replicator as the doorway opened. "Pick your poison" he added gesturing to the replicator.

Aiko had been exhausted beyond measure. The night had been spent, as the last few nights, catching up on the old Engineering logs. Tomorrow was day 1 technically but today was 'meet the xo' get the 'talk' and then Aiko wanted to explore the ship. Being locked in the quarters catching up on what was wrong with the ship and trying not to swear at the old engineering systems was difficult. "That thing doesn't make things strong enough but let's have some Romulan Coffee."

Ty laughed. "No, no it does not" he replied. "You would think all these years of having this piece of technology that we could perfect something as necessary as a strong mug of coffee" he said as he ordered them two mugs of the replicators best imitation of the Imperial Romulan Star Empire's best brew.

"Remind me to make you coffee sometime, the old way," he suggested. "I can make a raktajino that would put hair on your best."

"Now that I'll take." Aiko said.

Ty returned, handing over a coffee to the woman. "New aboard the Wolff like me if I remember correctly? I believe we both came aboard at the Starbase. Are you settling in alright?"

"As well as can be expected. My quarters are … bigger than I thought but I haven't unpacked yet. catching up on Engineering logs."

Bigger than expected he thought. It made him wonder if she had a history of smaller postings. He had not had the time to go over her service record as he would have liked. "I'm still unpacking myself" he confessed. "Where were you previously posted?"

"I was on the Glory," she said somewhat curtly.

"Oh," Ty replied. He honestly could not pick the Glory out from any other starship currently in service. "I hope the experience was glorious. What class was it?"

"Galaxy Class, it was...short."

Ty had taken a seat and sipped his coffee. "You see, that's going to be a bit of an issue. You are going to have to open up a bit more, Lieutenant if you plan on staying here. I want to get to know the Chief Engineer. These short and to the point answers are not telling me a damn thing about you."

She pressed her lips together. Usually she spoke freely but. "Well to put it bluntly it was a ship of idiots and small minded morons. I made the biggest mistake transferring there. The captain was glorious alright, a glorious sample of stupidity and spitefulness so here I am."

"Well, look on the brightside, you didn't have to face the scrutiny of Admirals and your entire crew because your actions in saving a civilization resulted in the death of your Commanding Officer," Ty replied sharing some insight into his past. "I don't find this posting that pleasant myself if I'm to be frank with you."

He looked at her. "The starship I was being assigned to was my ideal posting. I was this close to being part of the crew," he said gesturing with his hand. "Then, they were destroyed. That's how close I came to my dream posting yet a grim reminder of how close to death I was. Let's make the most of being on the Wolff, Lieutenant."

Aiko shrugged. "I just need my engineering organized the way I like. Don't need much more anyway. I had my ideal posting this ship is fine for now. Besides I don't know who your engineers are but if it were up to me i'd send them all back to the Academy."

He scoffed. "They are not my engineers. I just hot here, Lieutenant, you and I both." He liked her zest. "Those are our engineers now. So, either you whip them into shape or you clear them out. If you want to send them packing, then start typing up transfer requests."

"Already done for three." She passed over a PaDD. "The rest I can fix. That department will be in shape in two weeks! As for the previous Chief Engineers....well if they ever come near, now my, engines I'll air lock them all. Honestly who did Starfleet send to this ship before me?"

"Before you?" Ty picked up a PaDD and tapped away. "It has been a while, but a Bajoran with a poor taste in fashion. After that...ah Darzen Kali was holding it down. I believe he was one of your three you were sending to slaughter. "

She rubbed her face. "Yeah. Well I'll get the engine room up to par." She looked at Ty. "So, how do you handle reporting? How often do you want reports. I know each XO has their own timeline."

"Damage report and status reports, immediately," he replied swiftly. "Personnel evaluations every few months. Repair reports, as soon as you have an estimate. We can play anything else by ear."

"Fair." She looked at him. "Well... what else then?"

"From me? Nothing," he replied nonchalantly. "I still need to settle in, but explore the ship. Get to know the crew, and meet the Captain. She will want to know the person holding this Luna together. "

"Yes...after I have de-pooped the poop deck. I hear the waste system is a mess that shall be where I start."

Ty chuckled at that. "Sounds like a plan," he said. "Once I get the greenlight from medical and counselling, we can have you getting more involved in Engineering duties" he added.

With a parting nod, he watched the Chief Engineer leave.
