Mission:
Misson 1 - Rebirth
Location: Various
Timeline: 5th february 2395
Taking a deep breath Taliserra stepped out onto the bridge, today was the day, the day the Wolff would finally leave Starbase 54 and go back out into space. Hopefully everything was going to be ok.
She walked down to the centre of the bridge and sat down in the command chair. "Are we all set Commander?" She asked looking at Claire.
Claire nodded an affirmative. "Aye, Captain. All personnel are aboard, initial checks are complete, and we're awaiting final check procedures at your command. Station control also signals that all moorings are free and clear."
"Good, I'm eager to get back out into space." Taliserra said. She looked around at the crew around her, the remaining senior officers would be arriving any time now and they could get underway.
"As they say, space is the place to be." Claire replied with a hint of a grin. It might have been a bit of a joke or an obscure reference, but she wasn't about to explain it.
Galatea stood in the lift waiting for it to reach the bridge. As it did the doors whooshed open and she stepped on. She wouldn't stay long just enough to let the CO know that all was ready and to check the medical station. She gave a nod to the CO. "Permission to come on the bridge?"
"Permission granted Liuetenant." Taliserra replied a little curious why Galatea asked for permission when she didn't need to as she was an officer.
Galatea looked a bit lost. "I'm not much of a bridge person." She scanned until she found her medical console. "I'll just check that and be out of your hair."
"Feel free to stay and watch." Taliserra added.
Galatea checked her console and made sure the readings were coming in properly. Her plan had been to just check things out and leave but the lure of the images on the screen, the images of the crew busy as they prepared to take the ship out was too much of a draw. She walked slowly as if afraid that she would be kicked out and she gently lowered herself in the chair to Taliserra's right. She watched the images on the view screen shimmy and change to give the crew an idea of what was happening near the hull and the final preparations. She found herself in silent awe of all that went on around her.
Mari entered the bridge and took a standing position behind the captain. This first run would not likely be too demanding for her, but she was determined to learn as much about the crew and the ship as she could.
Navore caught a Lift and came to the Bridge; for the launch operation he decided that being on the Bridge might be best? Besides, he could have some fun watching Talley take the ship out; yes he had to admit he remembered back at the acdemey so it was a comparison of her 'seasoned side' compared to what he recalled.
"Top of the Morning..." He hoped he had it right as he walk to an open console. "Captain, The engines are waiting your orders." He primed the console. "Transfer Main Engineering console to Bridge." He requested of the computer.
"Thank you Lieutenant Navore." Taliserra said, she was glad Kallen had come upto the bridge that way if anything went wrong she could shout at him directly.
Science was a full area today the only person not on the bridge was Anthony’s civilian and that was because she didn’t have clearance. Anthony was at one station and his assistant was at the other while a few crewman and Petty Officers were looking over their shoulders. “Good morning Captain pleasant rest cycle?” He shook his head at Lieutenant Navore’s comment. “Really top of the morning, I thought the English might have breed that saying of of existence centuries ago.”
"Just because you lack good manners is no reason to put your conclusions upon others of course. " He smiled. "The words of the unwise or fools do not change a pleasant disposition Mr Edwards." Navore nodded to him. "Fact of life."
Anthony chuckled at his jibe. “Captain and Lieutenant Navore seriously though, I have a very talented civilian scientist, she seems quite talented at Engineering Sciences apparently she partook in the study and writing of the report on how to make the engines more efficient. That is all I really understood. Captain I would like some time once we have buttoned down everything else to discuss allowing her on the Bridge.”
"The panels are better in Engineering actually." Navore suggested. "And closer to the subject matter; and the anti-matter as well, when you think of it Sir."
“Then I guess you have read HG’s report and adapted her findings into the system then at least those that could be changed at short notice?” Anthony asked.
"Luck is with our refit the system was more 'open' to having modification; though I did take the time to more finely tune her theories to the practical application. " Navore said as his fingers danced along his console. "Very perceptive insights in a general theorem, it just needs us as a case study to see how theory appiles in reality , then I would say she will have ; as humans say, 'Aced it."
Half listenening to the conversation between Kallen and Anthony Taliserra smiled, it was good that they were 'getting along' even though it sounded a little heated.
Mikoto arrived shortly after and moved quietly over to the tactical station. She logged in using her codes and perched on the stool, it was nice to be back.
Already at the helm station Ensign Bracca itched to get going, he'd spent most of his leave helping test a couple of prototype flight systems on shuttles and all the time he wanted to get back behind the controls of a full sized ship again.
Sat across from him at the Ops console Binea could see Bracca's blue hands drumming at the helm console. "Patience Ensign, just a little longer and you can have your fill of piloting the ship."
"Sorry Lieutenant." Bracca said, his hands stopping when he realised what he was doing.
A few moments later the Ops panel beeped. "Message from dock control Captain." Binea called out "We have permission to depart as soon as we're ready, no other ships are incoming or outgoing for the next 60 minutes."
"Thank you." Taliserra said then turned to Claire. "Well, here we go. Would you like to give the order Commander?"
"Thank you, Captain." Standing, Claire clasped her hands behind her back. "Helm, engage maneuvering thrusters, all ahead, for docking bay door two. Once clear, set a course, one seven one mark nine one full impulse. Prepare for warp six as soon as we clear the system. Engage."
"Aye Sir, course set." Bracca said, flexing his blue fingers he tapped the helm console and slowly the Wolff began to move as its thrusters fired.
'So far so good.' Taliserra thought as the Wolff passed through the space doors of Starbase 54 and out into open space.
"Accelerating to full impusle." Bracca said as he swung the ship around to the headed Claire gave, soon the ship passed the bases outer marker and it was safe to jump to warp. "Engaging warp engines."
Taliserra was just a little tense, the warp engines were practically brand new, the originals having been damaged beyond repair and hadn't been used since they were installed.
It took a moment to build up power then the ship jumped to warp, barely a second after passing the warp threshold the ship violently dropped back into normal space.
Claire had been standing but knowing that this was the first jump to warp for the new engines, she'd been a bit tense so she expected a bit of a hiccup. Thankfully it wasn't as bad as she was expecting and she caught herself with a foot in front of herself on the deck plating and arms out to her sides.
Galatea had been glad she was seated. The jolt gave everyone quite a shock but left her unharmed. She righted herself and took a moment to get her legs from under her. She grabbed the tricorder that found its home on her belt and started tending to those around the bridge. A young Ensign by the security console had taken quite a spill and was rubbing his arm. She scanned him as she knelt by him. "That arm is not broken, bad sprain." She had the young man stay where he was while she got the emergency med kit by the medial station and then proceeded to help ease the pain in his arm.
Not for the first time Anthony was very glad that the science station had the back of the seat facing forward like in the twentieth century military’s personnel transport aircraft. The jolt from coming back from warp to impulse pushed him back into his seat. His station lit up and he started the analysis of the information. To him it seemed the warp field was a fluctuations cause it to shut the warp engine down to stop it tearing the ship apart. Anthony sent a copy of his sensor information to engineering bridge station.
Grabbing hold of the armrests of the command chair Taliserra rode out the violent turns and adjustments as Bracca tried to stabilise the ship. "Report."
"Checking now Sir." Bracca said, his hands darting across the helm console. "It looks like we..... stalled."
"Stalled?" Taliserra said surprised.
Recovering her composure, Claire made a simple request. "Helm, please check that the external inertial dampeners are not re-engaging. I would hate to think we have a faulty parking brake..."
Mikoto couldn't help but smile. There was always something that was a little dodgy when ships left spacedock. She had hoped for a nice smooth departure, but obviously today the Wolff wasn't playing ball with her crew.
Alarms sounded in the Engineering console; the ship's warp field seemed to not have fully enveloped the ship. The Reactor Core scrammed and cut power to the Warp egines.
"We have a miss alignment in the Warp Core field envelope." Kallen was a bit busy as he was routing the systems from the master control panel on the bridge. "We will have Warp power in three minutes." He reported.
The system was running through the test diagnostic when he realized it was number one two seven injector that had misfired. He took off line number three two seven in the left nacelle to keep a balance between the two nacelles and would replace the units soon enough.
"You might want to make sure the ship is in first gear fully before popping the clutch this time." He sent the message up. "You have warp power ma'am."
"Good, Helm resume course and go to warp two, then increase speed every 20 seconds till warp 9.5, I want to shake the cobwebs out of this ship Ensign." Taliserra said. "Binea, Navore, keep your eyes open."
"Aye Captain." Binea replied.
"ON it." Navore was bird-dogging the panel this time.
Bracca took a deep breath as he realligned the ships course and jumped the ship to low warp, this time the ship passed cleanly through the warp barrier and up to speed. "All systems show normal Captain, we're at warp 2."
The two injectors being off line did not really affect the power atthe moment and once the ship hit high warp it should not give a problem, still Navore had all his focus on those engines.
"You should have little problems from here on out." Navore assured. "I think we found the fault and it is not going to be a problem."
"Good work Lieutenant." Taliserra called out. She hoped after that first little hiccup that things would go smoothly.
