Mission:
Shoreleave
Location: Captain's Ready Room
Go to Risa and have an amazing time check. He had done that, and Ty had a wonderful time with Counsellor Summer Wyse. He had met dozens of people vacationing on Risa and other starship crews on shore leave. It also had allowed Ty to spend more time with Summer. Something that he had desperately needed. Now, it was the Captain's turn, and Ty was sitting in Taliserra's Ready Room and trying to get some paperwork done while Acting Captain.
This wasn't the first time that he had to take command of a starship, but before was under emergency situations. This was anything but an emergency, but it was his first time in command of the Wolff because Taliserra never went anywhere. His stomach felt as though it had been doing somersaults since he woke up, but he knew he'd get past the nerves.
Tyrus smiled as he opened a communications channel to Doctor Hope Ross. "Acevedo to Sickbay, mission accomplished, Doctor. She's now on Risa taking shoreleave" reported Ty. "I'm in the Captain's Ready Room about to meet with Counsellor Wyse. Would you mind joining us?"
“On my way, sir” Hope replied over the comm system.
Standing up, Ty steadied himself against the Captain's desk and made his way over to the replicator. Nothing a good bit of tea can't settle he thought. He was not about to call the Captain back aboard because he was feeling a little under the weather. As he was getting ready to order his tea, the door chime rang.
Tyrus smiled. "Come in, Summer" he said just knowing it was her. He felt it. Maybe their connection was just becoming more connected and interwoven. He knew that Summer was coming to see him about something she wanted to bring to his attention.
“Morning Tyrus” Summer smiled warmly as she entered the room. “I need to talk to you about something, but I’m guessing you’ve already picked up on that.” She took a seat. “I’ve started sensing a...what I can only describe as a developing consciousness, the beginnings of thought patterns, the type you’d generally find in someone whose pregnant...and before you ask, I don’t think it’s me.”
Tyrus was about to faint at the brief moment that he thought Summer was going to announce that she was pregnant. He had been careful, and for the longest time rebuffed her advances. The cat and mouse game that they had was amusing to Ty. "I think we both have enough on our plates" Ty stated. "I know you'd be an amazing mother, but" he smiled.
Ty had serious doubts about his parental aptitude. "I had invited the Doctor up here to discuss the Captain, but if anyone would know if we have an expecting mother aboard " prefaced Tyrus.
Doctor Ross tapped the chime that requested permission to enter the ready room. She adjusted her uniform and took a deep calming breath and let it out slowly while waiting to be given permission to enter.
Summer offered Tyrus a wry smile, before looking towards the door.
"Come in, Doctor," Ty said in response to the chime. He was looking forward to having them both there to discuss matters. He stood and waited for Hope. "Would you two care for some tea or coffee?"
“Nothing for me, thanks” Hope said with a polite smile as she made her way inside.
“Nothing for me, thank you” Summer smiled warmly offering Hope a smile as well.
Ty looked at Summer and gestured towards her. "The Counselor has been letting me know there's some good news" he prefaced. "First, I wanted to let you both know the Captain is finally taking shore leave. So, mission accomplished there. Now, Summer says there's a bun in someone's oven."
The First Officer looked at Hope. "I know Doctor - Patient confidentiality, but uh any hints what lovely lady we can congratulate. I'm sure the Counselor would be thrilled to throw her a baby shower."
Hope couldn’t violate patient confidentiality but she could answer her superiors question. “There are several members of the crew who are open to the idea of having a child. Some have even asked for guidance or advice” the doctor smiled.
“I can definitely contest to the fact that someone is pregnant, I’m not sure who though.” Summer gave Hope a smile. “Maybe if I was in the same room, but not from here.”
"It's possible they aren't even that far along yet," said Ty. "A developing mind. You are quite sensitive though" he added looking at Summer. He was going to say more, but the bit of discomfort caused him to pause. He took another sip of tea. "Are any actively pregnant, Doc?"
The Doctor thought for a moment “not that had been reported to sickbay.”
Summer had noticed the moment of discomfort, giving Tyrus a curious look as he and Hope talked. "Are you alright?" she looked at Tyrus.
"Just a bit nauseated," he replied to Summer. He tried not to make too much of it. "I haven't quite felt comfortable since getting back from Risa. I don't think the Antedian sushi was as fresh as advertised at the resort" he said with a chuckle.
“We can get you a hypo to help with that, sir” Hope said trying to help.
Summer frowned. “Actually you may want to run a scan first” she looked at Hope trying to convey that something wasn’t right.
“I’d like to do a full examination in sickbay” the doctor said looking at Summer and then at the officer in charge of the ship.
“Ty...” Summer looked at the man she loved. “I think you should go, something isn’t right.”
“What are your symptoms” Doctor Ross could start asking questions while Ty made up his mind on going to sickbay for an examination.
Tyrus Acevedo respected medical opinions and usually would oblige to seeing one, but he was temporarily in command of the ship while Captain Tigran was away. He had zero intention on causing any sort of disruption to her time off the starship, especially given the rarity of it for relaxation.
"Wait just a damn a minute," he said looking at the two women. "Symptoms? A bit weak and nauseated, but surely nothing that merits rushing me to Sickbay" he said firmly. "I'm Acting Captain until Taliserra returns from shoreleave and I am not calling her back a minute sooner than she needs to be let alone several days before her due return."
He groaned a bit at the thought and of the feeling of his stomach doing gymnastics while he was seated. "I know that look and the two of you have something going on in your heads. You suspect something, you have a hypothesis, and you are not sharing it, ladies."
Summer knelt down in-front of the man who’d come to mean a lot to her in a short space of time. “Ty...the life form I’m sensing, it’s stronger in here. As much as I hate to say this, I think the sense is coming from you.”
"There's a parasite inside me?!" Ty's eyes lit up and he went pale. He was certainly not smiling. "I am never eating sushi again, ever. Doctor?" He was looking for options still not fully comprehending what Summer was getting at.
Doctor Ross was studying the scans coming in on the tricorder as she ran the probe over the Lieutenant Commander’s abdomen “no sir” she paused for a moment “it definitely more than a parasite.” She looked up with a smile on her face “you are pregnant, Commander.”
"Wh-" Ty could not even form words let alone a sentence. He looked at Summer. There's no way he looked back at Hope. "What the hell do you mean I'm pregnant! Look at me. I'm male, just a cisgender biological half Ardanan male. We don't get pregnant, our biological females do."
“I’m not” Hope paused and looked back at the tricorder “I’m not sure how to explain it sir, but there is a fetus in your abdomen.” Hope would have to do some research “I’ll find an answer” she closed her tricorder and pressed a few buttons on the biobed to bring up a more in-depth scans.
"Don't say a word," Ty said to Summer. "Not the Captain, not the crew. I don't want a baby shower," he added shaking his head. Why me he thought to himself. "Summer, Edwards is due back from shoreleave in several hours. I'll go with Doctor Ross to Sickbay. Do you mind finishing out my shift on the bridge while the Doctor checks everything out?"
Summer looked at Tyrus wide eyed. “Me? I’m not qualified to command yet. I haven’t even taken the bridge officer’s test! I guess I can call in help if I need it.”
"We're just sitting around as people take shoreleave. If anything happens, call in for help."
He looked at Hope. "Alright, so how does a biological male with anatomy mostly congruent with a Human end up pregnant, and how is my body even hosting this thing?" It wasn't like Ty had the equipment needed to carry the child to birth.
“There are certain alien species that males carry the off spring”
She smiled and thought for a few moments “for example Xyrillians reproduce by touch and are known to impregnate humans.”
Sky looked at Hope. “Can the baby be transferred to another host? Is that a possibility?”
"Don't even think about it," Ty said interrupting. "Until we know what this 'baby' is, I'm not going to risk anyone taking over my parental duties" Ty said with a sigh. "I'm not putting you at risk, Summer."
Hope wasn’t completely sure “possibly but I’d have to do some research” she paused for a moment “with our transporter technology it may be possible.”
Lieutenant Commander Tyrus Acevedo took a deep breath and got ready to follow Doctor Ross. "I'll be in Sickbay if you need anything, Summer. Doctor, Let's figure out who or what knocked me up."
