Mission:
Misson 1 - Rebirth
Location: observation lounge
Timeline: 3rd february 2395
Steaming mug of tea in hand Taliserra dropped several padds down onto the table in the observation room and sat down in one of the chairs, today was the day they started things for getting back out into space.
She tapped a comm panel built into the table. =/\= All senior officers report to the observation lounge. =/\=
=/\=On my way Commander.=/\= Lieutenant Edwards Chief Science Officer said as he tabbed his desk com panel then left his his office for the observation lounge a few minute of walking waiting and walking again he grabbed a Raktajino before he found a seat.
"Good morning Lt Edwards." Taliserra said as Anthony joined her at the table, she passed one of the Padd's over to him.
“Good morning Commander Tigran, did you sleep well?” He said as he took the Padd after he sat down.
"I did thank you Lieutenant." Taliserra replied.
Claire had been on the bridge when the call came in so she nodded to the Ensign at helm that didn't have much to do anyway but monitor latent background radiation inside his own brain and headed off to the meeting, leaving him in charge. As soon as she entered she headed to the replicator and punched in an order for a caramel latte. Latte in hand, she took a seat at the right hand of the Captain. "Morning, Captain. Looking forward to getting underway?"
"I cannot wait to get back into space." Taliserra replied. She handed one of the Padds across to Claire.
Claire accepted the PaDD and clicked it on, glancing over the contents. "I can't blame you there. As much as I enjoy being back at a starbase, I want to get back out there as well."
"If everything goes well later today then we will be out soon."
"Sorry if I am late." Navore hesitated as he look up and noticed the Captain and the Executive Officer side by side. "Ladies, gentlemen." He said tactfully. "I-I was just putting a last few tests of the Power Grid, we are working as we should , you could cut us loose at any time ma'am." He said.
Galatea acknowledged the call and was on her way. She had finally gotten her sickbay looking like it should. Her head nurse was now in charge and proving to be more then capable of maintaining order. It didn't take her long to get to the meeting room and she was happy to see that for once in her life she was not the first one there. She gave a nod to a few people she knew and gave a nod to the CO. "Dr. Polaris reporting as ordered."
"Why good Day Doctor." Navore gave her a smile. "So glad you could join us." He meant it in a kind way.
She gave a nod and took her place in an empty chair. She laid down the package in her hand which proved to be a pen and notebook. She liked things old school, very old school. She opened the spiral bound notebook to an empty page and clicked the replicated pen open. She noted a few looks her way.
Claire glanced at that notebook and didn't feel quite so out of place anymore. Pulling out an antique pair of yellow tinted reading spectacles, she stared at Galatea as she slipped them on. "That's a nice notebook." She then looked back down at her PaDD, able to see a bit better what it said without the letters blurring together.
Anthony smiled. he wondered if the tint was to stop the words and letters moving around on Anette's page. He believed a long and intensive Psychological exam would prove it, but as he wasn't a clinical Psychologist he decided not to over think it as it maybe just to make her eyesight better. "Those frames look great on your face too Ma'am." He said it will all due respect but it even sounded a little sickly sweet to him.
"Hmm?" Claire glanced up at Anthony for a moment. "Ah, thank you. I know it's not a common accessory these days, but it's better than genetic therapy or cybernetic replacements or whatever other superscience options I've been presented with."
"Gives character." Navore said as he took a chair and nod to the Executive Officer.
Galatea smiled briefly. Perhaps she wasn't going to be so out of place.
Lieutenant Binea was next to arrive, her antennae twitching as she observed the other officers present. "Good morning everyone." She said and took a seat beside Navore.
Galatea greeted Binea as did everyone. She was curious to see what this was all about.
Mari walked in, feeling a bit guilty to be one of the last to walk in to a full room. She tried to sneak toward the far end of the table from the captain.
Mikoto finally arrived. She had spent most of the day inventoring the ships security systems and weaponary. It was a long tedious task, but had to be done as one missing phaser rifle was everyones problem. Luckily however, the weapons lockers ship wide were fully stocked and all accounted for.
Mari smiled, now that she was not actually the last to arrive.
Taliserra tapped the table a couple of times to get everyones attention. "We finally have our orders, if everything checks out ok we will be leaving in two days time."
Navore had a few things to lock down with personnel; the left impulse engine had a slight 'rattle' to her that needed to be locked down and the pesky trouble with the High warp vibration he could only guess at.
"Is there time to make some last minute supply orders?" Navore asked. "Some bulk raw materials I need for some fine tuning?"
Galatea looked up. "Two days...I was..." She stopped herself. She could have the shipment onboard shortly of the last of the medical supplies. "Why two days?" She asked instead.
"Science has full cupboards of everything we need Commander the only thing I need testing is the sensors and the bridge station." Anthony said.
"Get as many tests and fine tuning as you can done in the next two days." Taliserra said. "Anything else we can do on the way, this whole cruise is a shakedown of the repaired and refitted systems, nothing too strenuous for the ship and the crew."
Navore hid the sly grin; he was being told to behave and he knew it; though there are some replacements that needed a little push to properly seat them with older systems.
"We will need to give Tactical a full testing for the power grid repairs, the Engines might also need a run to flank speed to iron out a few systems that were replaced and make sure they integrate well." Navore brought up. "That might push the ship to some degree of strain but we need to get it done ma'am."
"The tactical systems test will take place at our destination, the Kimeni asteroid field, we have plenty of time before we arrive there." Taliserra said, as much as she liked that Navore was bringing up things she was already well aware of what needed doing. "The Padds outline a rough schedule." She turned to Navore and Binea. "As soon as ops engineering are ready we will bring our warp core online and switch to internal power."
That brought a sly grin to Navore's face; he would be starting the Lady's heart to race soon enough.
Galatea studied the PADD. "This all seems like a mystery a bit. Why do I get the feeling this won't be another stroll in the sea of stars."
“Because you're a doctor who is the chief medical officer of a starship belonging to the United federation planets maybe?” Anthony asked the doctor.
"Where is the fun in routine patrol?" Navore said lightly. "Can't get a lady's heart beating fast with a calm stroll, the Ladies could use a little bit of a fun as she is done with the refit."
"Hopefully all of this will be routine." Taliserra said. "After this shake down we can get to hopefully more interesting assignments."
Galatea gave a nod. She would wait for the briefing to end and then speak with the CO about an issue that had arisen with the sickbay staff. She wasn't happy about it but maybe the CO had a different perspective on things.
Mari thought the discussion was rather humorous. She was glad that the ship would have a shakedown before they put her in a more challenging situation.
Galatea sighed and made a few notes in her notebook. "By way of medical update. All senior staff has been medically and mentally assessed. They are all well. Junior staff exams are under way and all staff have received their inoculations according to Starfleet regulations. I've ordered extra emergency kits because I've been in Starfleet long enough to know that shakedown cruises tend to give people the shakes."
"Keep a close eye on the crew doctor, we have quite a few crew that are fresh from training." Taliserra then turned to Mikoto, most of the new crew were for her department. "Mikoto, is eveerything ok with security?"
Mikoto nodded. "Apart from all the new recruits you'll probably be seeing running around the decks, while I chase them. We should be fine" she explained. "We've got a full inventory of all tactical and security systems at our disposal."
"Good, now is there anything else?" Taliserra asked, she looked at the faces around her and after no one spoke she sat back in her chair. "Then you're all dismissed."
“Captain I have been conversing with the lounge manager and we think a little precruise crew party might be in order so that any new members, like myself, can get to know other crewmembers. I thought the lounge so it is open to all crew members and civilians rather than just officers." Lieutenant Edwards said.
"That is a good idea." Taliserra replied, it would be a good chance for the crew to get more accquianted. "Make the arrangements Lieutenant."
“Aye Ma’am!” Anthony smiled, having worked through the plans in spoken form at least with Jessica he would let her know the party was a go later then they could start planning in earnest. Assuming it was a dismissal He got up and quietly headed to the door.
Galatea shut her notebook and stood. She gave Taliserra a nod and as she walked past she decided not to stay. She would talk to their CO later. She had a sickbay to prep. She was at least glad that Hunter was on crew. He had been a great help. Sighing she headed towards the turbolift seeing that it was going to be a full ride down to sickbay.
Mikoto left shortly after Galatea. She had plenty of things she had to attend to around the security department of the ship.
Mari stood and walked out behind Mikoto, intending to offer her services to the security officer.
