Mission: The Silent Scream
Location: Deck 3- Lounge
Timeline: 27th April 2395- 1830hrs

====Front of house====

Standing near the main entrance to the lounge Jessica was greeting people as they arrived; a handful at first but it was a start and she knew more would arrive shortly, she hoped a large majority of the crew would come to the event though she had to be conscious they could only fit about a third of the them in the lounge at once even without the majority of the tables.

“Will, Amanda. Glad you’re here.” She said as Ensigns Turell and Raynada came through the door. “How is the arm Amanda?”

“Still a little sore but healing nicely,” Amanda replied. “Another good scar to add to the collection.”

“I thought it was women that preferred scars on men.” Jessica chuckled slightly. “Real alcohol is a go but take it steady in there.”

“Will do.” Will replied as the pair headed towards the bar.

“Captain, good to see you.” Jessica smiled exuberantly, glad that Taliserra was attending, it didn’t do well for the crew’s morale for the Captain to not attend events especially with the unusual situation they were in.

“Hi Jessica.” Taliserra smiled back. “Thank you for agreeing to host this here and doing a nice job with the decorations.”

“Oh it was no trouble at all, the crew come here to let off steam so it was naturally the best place to set this little concert, plus we already have a little stage set up.” Jessica replied, the decorations weren’t much, mostly just some fancy curtains to cover the view of the pure black emptiness outside the big windows.

“I hope you and James take some time to enjoy yourselves too, you’re just as vulnerable to the effects of our current situation.” Taliserra added.

“We’ll find some time Captain, don't you worry.” Jessica said, she greeted a couple other crew as they passed by, “Head on in Captain, find yourself a table.”

Summer arrived at the concert hoping that Tyrus would join her there, they weren’t officially a couple just two people enjoying each other’s company. She wished in some ways she had him to cuddle up to, to keep her warm at night but she understood the desire to want to work up to that point in a relationship. To make a good foundation was always important.

Ty had noticed the ship's counsellor and studied her with his eyes, all over. She had the looks and allure, but he had not allowed himself to yield to her yet, they were engaged in a lengthy cat and mouse game of sexuality and courtship. "You look beautiful," he complimented the woman approaching her.

“Thank you” Summer blushed a little as she looked at Tyrus. “You’re looking very handsome this evening. Would you like to join me?” She motioned to a seat.

HG would normally have ghosted the function but for Anthony. She actually decided to show and what was more actually decided to put on a little makeup.

Zack was always up for something different, and a concert sounded like a good enough way to spend an evening to him. He made his way into the lounge and had to admire how they'd set it up to accommodate more people than usual.

Brendon Watanabe had just been replaced on the bridge by Daniel Franklin and decided as it was his boss putting on this concert with one of the nurses he would only stay for a few and relieve Daniel so he could put in some time supporting their chief too. He smiled at Jessica as he came in, "Good evening Jessica, how are you this evening?"

"Hi Brendon," Jessica replied. "I'm doing well all things considered, it's nice to see so many people turning up tonight." she looked back to the bar and decided to head over and help james as the queue was building up.

Zack made his way over to the bar and smiled at Jessica. "Quite the setup
here." He commented. "Could I get a Roy Rogers please?"

"An unusual choice." Jessica replied smiling at the young man as she orded a glass of cola from the replicator for him. "The boss is letting me serve some real alcohol if you want that 'special' I mentioned."

"Oh, tempting." Zack smiled. "But I don't think I would enjoy the concert as much passed out in my chair."

"Well it's there if you change your mind." Jessica said, she bought the glass over and added a couple of ice cubes and a dash of grenadine. "One Roy Rogers."

"Thank you." Zack smiled, then wandered off to find a seat.

She wasn't sure how long it'd been since she'd transferred aboard, she probably could figure it out easily enough, but a concert, a diversion from the routine of shifts had been welcome. As she entered, Min smiled at Jessica, "Evening, Hope you don't mind I'm with a friend?" Jun grinned, "Hardly, Min is my sister Jessica, baby sister, and Starfleet saw fit to assign us together, thousand ships in the fleet they assigned her to me."

"Hi Jun." Jessica said. "It has been some time since you've graced my lounge, how are you?"

"Doing well, busy in sickbay, especially with some of the staffing challenges. But nice to get away for a bit, deflate, relax." Min nodded, "Same, busy getting settled, think I know more of the inside of this ship then engineering does."

Both girls had dressed somewhat casually, Min in a black shirt and purple top, a bit more formal then her sister's choice of denim skirt and ruffled shirt.

"What can I get you to drink? Got the ok for a little bit of the real stuff if you want any."

Jun nodded, glancing at Min. "Like old times Sis?" Min nodded, "Guilty Pleasure for me," she remarked. "Make it two," Jun answered back almost right away. (drink ref #8)

"It's a good job the hydroponics bay recently delivered their latest crop of mint to me." Jessica remarked as she grabbed a few ingredients. "Do you want real or synth?"

"Real," both sisters said almost the same time, prompting a giggle from Min. "Really Jun?" Jun shrugged, "Well, it's a dry ship most of the time and only chance to get the real stuff is when the bar is wet, or we're on shore leave."

Aiko had run into Midnight on the way to the lounge and the two had awkwardly chatted, at least it felt awkward to Aiko. They entered the lounge. "Is this where the party is," Aiko asked.

"Hello ladies," Jessica greeted them both, she recognised them but with all the new crew recently she was still a little uncertain on their names. "Can I get you anything?"

Aiko looked over at Midnight who just shook her head. "I'm good."

Aiko turned back. "Just point us towards the food and bar and we're good!"

James Sulu came out carrying a platter of canapes and said "Did someone say point them to the food?" Before he started wandering between tables offering them to the concert goers.

Aiko and Midnight got what they needed and headed to find a place. Midnight, or so it seemed, wasn't very good at parties because Aiko could sense the waves of nervousness from her but comforting words or even funny words wouldn't come so Aiko settled for a quiet spot in the back. She wasn't big on crowds either but it was something and it was a way to get to see the crew and learn the room.

tags entrances anyone left??

====Backstage====

Already in the lounge waiting for people to arrive Cameron paced around nervously, they were ready and had practised a lot but this would be the first time she’d played in front of real people in quite some time.

This would be the first time outside of practice with Cameron that Anthony would have performed for entertainment purposes for at least the six years that he had been out in the fleet. He also had concentrated in his studies as a senior cadet at the academy making it seven years since he had last played at the piano bar in San Francisco, “Relax Cameron, You’ll be fine, to quote Captain Tigran we are the background noise to people relaxing for a few hours. On top of that you’re making me nervous.”

“I know but I can’t help it” Cameron stopped pacing and rest her hands against a nearby table.

“Then shall I go out and ask James for some rotten tomatoes to be handed around? No! So seriously You are absolutely the second best violin player that I have seen in Many a year. Flea is quite good but you’re a very close second.”

Cameron chuckled slightly. “Thanks.” She didn’t necessarily need the confidence boost, she knew she was good but playing to a crowd was quite different from playing alone.

“You’re welcome Cameron, as scientists, we both deal in absolutes. You of course get it wrong and people's health at best, lives at worse are in danger. Tonight though nerve racking will be fine. Just remember I believe in you and so do Jessica and Captain Tigran or they would not have agreed to hold it. We’re not the main entertainment tonight that will come from the crew talking and enjoying a drink together.” Anthony said with a smile.

Picking up the Padd that had their set list on it Cameron read through it for the upteenth time, she had it in her head but it never hurt to be sure, there was a copy already set next to the piano’s seat just in case they needed it.

Anthony chuckled and said “Shall we go and try to sooth the savages?” As he looked at the list he had actually written down. When it came to music he liked having a hard copy list for his set. It had made what he played much easier to remember outside of those the patrons of the bar would request. But he couldn’t guess when or what they would ask for.

==== Lounge Floor ====

Cameron poked her head out of their little backstage area and got Jessica's attention. "We're ready whenever you are." She told her.

"Alright." Jessica replied, she excused herself from the patrons at the bar and headed up to the stage. "Ladies and gentlemen," She began, speaking through the microphone set up for Cameron. "Tonights entertainment... on the piano Lt Anthony Edwards and the violin Ensign Cameron Kore." She motioned towards the backstage area.

Trying to keep the nervousness from her face Cameron led the way out of the backstage area and up to the stage, as Anthony got settled on his seat Cameron picked up her violin and bow and stepped up to her microphone. "Tonight we're going to play you several songs from a mix of musical styles. We don't expect you to sit in silence while we play though. Talk, drink and maybe even dance as much as you like."

Anthony smiled as he took his seat. He looked around at how many of the science team were there. he acknowledged HG with a smile and a wave before he sat down. Once Cameron had introduced the ideas of the music tonight he gave her the notes to check her strings and then played a song from the Muppet Movie and sang a few of the lines Getting there is half the fun come join up with me. "On top of dancing and talking if you know the words to the songs feel free to join us in the singing of the songs."

Once everyone had found people to sit with and started some conversations, and Anthony and Cameron had got the tuning right Anthony spoke up over his mic and said "This evening we'll be starting with a Classical grouping, and the first one will be a much-used piece as a wedding march and as the lucky couples waltz called Pachelbel canon in d."

HG made a nod to Anthony and took a seat. She was not antisocial overall just that she tended to avoid crowds. This was an exception especially with Anthony playing. She enjoyed listening and tapped a foot silently to the beat.

Brendon made his way to the table that HG had sat at and said "He's not bad, I never even knew he was talented, Well except with his languages, there he is an expert, So I suppose when you stop and think about it makes sense."

HG nodded. "Lot's of talents here that I suspect people have that have not been discovered yet. We kind of complement each other at least in the science department. I have the harder mathematical stuff and he has the languages and softer. Works out well."

"He has said exactly the same thing on numerous occasions. Including a few times while you were away that it was like he was missing a limb. I think you also complement each other as a couple too, but at the same time, you don't rub it in the faces of single scientists like me either. It helps keep the Science division working well of course. He loved having an experimental Engineering scientist because having you here means he has someone that understands the Engineers better than he does." Brendon smiled and added to it "Though I was meaning musically!"

"That is sweet, did he leave out I am a pain in the rear at times? Of course been that way for quite a bit. I just can't help it. I was always one of those rush in where others fear to tread."

Brendon laughed. "It's his upbringing HG, his rule is you don't speak badly about a person unless they can defend themselves. As you weren't there at that time I am sure he might have thought it about you but he likes to think positively. Probably why the science team interacts so well together is because Anthony won't hear negativity toward people when they're absent. Oh, and you would likely be the only one that he would openly say that to, As I think we all have days like that."

HG nodded. "I am just being honest. I have flaws, but at least that is not one of them." She looked over at the bar. "Say do you want anything? The Captain is looking a bit lost over."

"Honesty is the best policy in my book." Brendon said "Probably Anthony's too, It is certainly easier to deal with knowing your dealing with the truth." Looking over to the bar with a smile at the Captain turned out and then chuckled to himself as he turned back to face her. "Yes I can go talk to Captain Tigran while you listen to your boyfriend in peace."

HG got up and headed toward the bar spotting the captain standing all alone.

From her stool at the bar Taliserra watched Anthony and Cameron play, they were certainly talented and it was nice to see the crew enjoying the music and happily chatting away.

"Captain, can I get you anything?" Jessica asked after breaking away from another gaggle of crew.

"Just a springwine please Jessica, a real one." Taliserra replied, while not typically a drinker she decided to treat herself.

"Coming up." Jessica smiled and quickly toddled off reappearing just as quickly with a full wine glass.

"Thanks Jessica." Taliserra took the glass and had a sip. "mhhh, not bad."

Meanwhile, upon their little stage, Anthony announced their next song. "About four hundred and eleven years ago a Canadian jewish singer-songwriter named Leonard Cohen wrote a beautiful song, called Hallelujah."

"Good evening captain, I was saying to Brendon you are looking a little lost. Not many feel comfortable just having small talk with the captain. Me, well, you know me, the angels fear to tread but me I am too curious to worry. I would get you something but I see you already have a drink." HG came up and leaned on the bar looking at the captain.

"Hi Helena." Taliserra smiled. "I try and be open to everyone but it doesn't always work."

"Ah, just not brave enough. So how are you doing? No I am not playing counselor here just figure that no one really takes much interest in the upper command." HG turned slightly to watch the playing.

Taliserra sipped her drink enjoying the warm fruity flavour. "I'm managing, our current situation is certainly an unusual one, I'm concerned for the whole ship but it's nice to see them enjoying themselves despite the circumstances."

HG nodded. "Well not a counselor, but if you would take a bit of advice from someone who tends to loose site of the forest for the trees, take a bit of time just for yourself. Go on an adventure, have a romantic fling even if it only on the holodeck."

"I'm not one for romance any more," Taliserra replied, "with being the Captain and having Lashell I don't have the time." That wasn't strictly true but it was a safer answer.

"Never too high, or too old," HG replied. "Anyway, if you decide you want to let loose a little, I discovered some of those fungi I have been playing around with in the science lab have some rather interesting side effects."

"You'll have to try and explain it to me one day, can't promise I'll understand the science of it." Taliserra paused to sip her wine. "That's why I have you and Anthony to figure all that out."

HG just chuckled. "Poor Anthony, I think I talk way past his head at times as well. Still overall I think there is a good compliment there. I am not the greatest cook in the world captain, but stop by sometime. Some of those mushrooms cook up real nice and pair wonderfully with other items. "

"As soon as we get out of this...." She motioned towards the covered windows. "I'm all yours."

"Alright sounds good, well looks like they are taking a break and let me go catch Anthony. Take care captain, and remember let your hair down now and then." HG saluted with a glass and headed off.

Grabbing a drink from the bar Debbie spied Zack at the otherside and headed over. "Hey Zack."

"Hey Debbie." Zack greeted in kind. "How are you liking the concert so far?"

"I prefer music that's a little more punchy but it's not too bad." Debbie replied.

"Yeah, it's not really my speed of music either, but it's so well played it's easy to appreciate it, and it's a nice change of pace." Zack commented.

"Me and a few other Ensigns have a table if you want to come and join us." Debbie suggested, she'd decided it was time to introduce Zack to her little clique.

Zack smiled and nodded. "Great. Thank you. Lead the way."

Debbie led Zack through the crowd over to her table. "Guys this is Zack, one of our new engineers." She said then introduced them to him. "From ops, Will. And from security Joran and Amanda."

Zack smiled to the group. "Good to meet you all." He took a seat and started the small talk.

"Ah the new guy you told us about, nice to meet you." Will said raising his drink slightly to the younger Ensign.

Zack lifted his own drink in reply. "Hopefully, all good stories." He smiled.

As they finished Hallelujah Cameron decided to do something she hadn't quite planned on doing nor even suggested to Anthony, she left the stage as she played the opening bars to Think of me and entered the crowd of crew who parted a little to give her a little space, she moved around the various tables exchanging pleasantries with several of their occupants as she played.

Anthony smiled. It was only a short time ago that they started practicing for this and the song think of me was perfect for audience interaction and invasion by those that could move away from the stage. He was happy that Cameron had made the choice, because think of me and led to Phantom of the Opera which was actually the main theme and the part of the opera that the male and female leads followed each other around the stage and of course he couldn't get up and chase her. "knew I should have done this with the flute."

Cameron and Anthony continued to play through their chosen song list until they had finished then had the computer continue to play other music and joined in the party.
